What does it mean when the light on the front of the HUB Receiver changes color?
The light on the HUB Receiver changes color depending on its status.
- Yellow — the HUB Receiver is waiting to connect to a device.
- Blinking blue — the HUB Receiver is in pairing mode. If the app is in pairing mode as well, the app and receiver will begin the connection process.
- Green — the HUB Receiver is connected to a device. If it is not connected to your device, chances are it found a different device in the area that it has previously connected to. If you can't find the connected device, you may have to reset the HUB Receiver and pair to it again.
- Fast blinking blue — the receiver has been reset. See How do I reset my HUB Receiver? for more information.
- Purple — the HUB is in the process of updating. Do not turn the HUB off during the update.
I can't connect or pair to my HUB Receiver! What should I do?
First, turn the HUB Receiver off and back on again. You can do this by unplugging it and plugging it back in on corded units, or by cycling the ignition on hardwired units. You can tell the HUB Receiver is off when the light on the front is off.
Next, try resetting the receiver and delete all old pairings from your device. See How do I reset my HUB Receiver?, How do I delete previous pairings from my phone / device?, and How do I delete pairings from the WARN HUB App? for more details.
If that doesn't fix the issue, try deleting the app and reinstalling it. If you have an Android device, you might have to delete the cached app data as well.
How do I reset my HUB Receiver?
If you are having trouble connecting your phone to the HUB Receiver, resetting it is a good place to start. Hold the pairing button for about 10 seconds until the light on the front begins to quickly blink blue, then release the button.
Resetting the HUB Receiver clears the receiver's memory, so you'll have to re-pair to it with your phone. It is highly recommended to clear previously saved HUB Receiver pairings from your phone's Bluetooth settings and from the "My Devices" section in the app before you try to re-pair. When you re-pair, the HUB Receiver will likely show up with a different name than before. See How do I delete previous pairings from my phone / device? and How do I delete pairings from the WARN HUB App? for more details.
How do I delete previous pairings from my phone / device?
On iOS:
- Go to the home screen and open Settings
- Open Bluetooth
- Find the HUB Receiver and tap the "i" icon to the right
- Select "Forget this Device"
- Confirm by tapping "Forget Device"
On Android (method varies slightly by device):
- Go to the home screen and open Settings
- Open Bluetooth, or Connected Devices then Bluetooth
- Find the HUB Receiver and tap the settings icon to the right
- Select either "Unpair" or "Forget"
How do I delete pairings from the WARN HUB App?
- Open the app and navigate to the main control screen. You do not have to be connected to any device to do so.
- Open the app's settings by tapping the gear icon in the upper right corner
- Open "My WARN HUB Receivers"
- Delete devices by swiping left on them. Note that you can only delete devices that are not listed as the "Target Device"
How do I pair additional HUB Receivers using the WARN HUB App?
- Open the app and navigate to the main control screen. You do not have to be connected to any device to do so.
- Open the app's settings by tapping the gear icon in the upper right corner
- Open "My WARN HUB Receivers"
- Tap "Pair a HUB Device" and follow the onscreen instructions, similar to the first device that was paired
How do I switch between different HUB Receivers using the WARN HUB App?
If you've previously paired to the HUB Receiver you want to switch to, tap the gear icon in the upper right corner of the main winch control screen, select "My HUB Receivers," then choose the receiver you'd like to switch to under "My Other Devices."
If you haven't paired to the HUB Receiver you want to switch to, see How do I pair additional HUB Receivers using the WARN HUB App? for more details.
Should the HUB Receiver's light be on when my vehicle is off?
If you have a WARN HUB Receiver for WARN truck or Smittybilt truck winches — yes. The HUB Receiver is on anytime it is plugged into the winch. Make sure you unplug the receiver anytime the winch is not in use to avoid draining your battery.
If you have a WARN HUB Receiver for PSP or WARN AXON winches — no. The power supplied to the receiver should be coming from a 12 VDC source activated with the vehicle's ignition. If the HUB Receiver is on while the key is off, you should find a new power source on your vehicle, otherwise the HUB Receiver will drain your battery.
How do I let someone else connect to my HUB Receiver?
Normally, if you quit the app your phone will cease its connection with the HUB Receiver — you can tell the connection has ended when the light on the receiver turns yellow. On some phones the connection will continue to linger in the background, in which case you'll need to turn off Bluetooth on your device.
Once the connection has ended, someone else can pair to the receiver following the normal pairing process. Once they've completed the connection, you can turn your Bluetooth back on.
Note that you cannot kick someone off who is currently connected, and multiple devices cannot connect to one receiver at the same time.
I moved my HUB to another winch and it won't control the new winch! What do I do?
This will happen if you moved your HUB Receiver from a WARN VR-EVO winch to a non-VR EVO winch or vice versa. You'll need to forget the pairing for the HUB Receiver (see How do I reset my HUB Receiver?) and re-pair. During the pairing process, update the winch model the HUB Receiver is connected to so it can properly configure its controls.
The HUB App just asked me to perform an update and now I can't reconnect. What should I do?
Occasionally during the update process, the HUB Receiver will change its pairing, causing your phone to think it's connected when it isn't. If this happens, clear the pairing in the app, on your phone, and on the HUB Receiver, then re-pair. See How do I reset my HUB Receiver?, How do I delete previous pairings from my phone / device?, and How do I delete pairings from the WARN HUB App? for more details.
How do I hardwire the Powersports HUB Receiver to my contactor?
If you are connecting the Powersports HUB Receiver to a WARN Powersports winch (VRX, Vantage, ProVantage) — match the colored dots on the HUB Receiver's wires to the existing wiring or the colored dots on the contactor.
Other installations are dependent on the existing wiring. For newer WARN Truck winches, you can match the wire colors from the HUB Receiver to the wire colors on the contactor. Always perform the safety procedures outlined in the owner's manual while wiring any winch.
Wire functions are as follows:
- White wire — winch spool out
- Brown wire — switched ground
- Green wire — winch spool in
